Gel nails: how to do? Complete guide
The gel or polygel allows you to obtain a flawless manicure without damaging your natural nails, but how to achieve a gel manicure on a natural nail? Keep reading, the nail supply expert Maryton will tell you how to use the gel easily at home.
Step 1: Prepare the nail
First of all, you will have to prepare the nail, a key step in applying the gel. Use a wooden or steel cuticle pusher and gently push back your cuticles. Then, file your nails to make the ends smooth. You can then polish your nails with the buffing block which will help unify the surface. Apply a base coat which will smooth and protect the nail, then catalyze for 30/60 seconds.
Step 2: Apply the gel
Choose the capsule that will best adapt to the width of your nail then place a drop of gel on the capsule using the spatula provided for this purpose. Place a few drops of slip solution in the cap and dip the brush in it. Using the brush, tap the gel in the capsule to stretch it and delicately spread it in an even layer. Place the capsule on the nail then press it gently.
Once the capsule is well positioned with the gel on the nail, catalyze for 30/60sec. When the gel has been applied and cured on all fingers, you can cut it using the pliers to the desired length. File your gel nail according to the shape you want. Also file the top of the gel nail to obtain a homogeneous, smooth surface and a nice natural curve. Using an electric nail drill you can also file the underside of the gel nail to thin it out if necessary.
Step 3: Finishing the gel nails
Finally, once your nails are well filed and uniform, you can either apply the top coat and cure it, or apply your favorite semi-permanent varnish according to the usual steps.
