Powder coating: what is it?

Powdered varnish, also called “dip power”, is a nail polish made up of fine particles of acrylic. It therefore takes the form of a colored powder. It allows you to achieve different effects on your varnish: glitter, gradient, a mat or metallic finish, etc.

Powder coating was not invented recently. However, it has been back in fashion in recent years on social networks: more and more beauty and cosmetics brands are now offering their powder varnish.

Powder varnish is different from classic varnish because it is strong.

APPLY IT TO A THICK, STICKY COAT BASE LAYER AND DIP YOUR FINGER IN THE VARNISH POWDER TO COAT THE NAIL WITH VARNISH.

Then add another layer of top coat to keep it going. Be careful, the base coat and the top coat used to fix the powder varnish are therefore not the same as those used for classic varnish!

Why use powder varnish?

Easy to apply, quick to dry, the powder varnish is quite suitable for those in a hurry, especially since it can last as long as a semi-permanent gel or resin varnish, namely up to Three weeks.

EXCEPT THAT THE VARNISH POWDER HAS NO SIDE EFFECTS, UNLIKE PERMANENT VARNISH WHICH CAN UNDOUBLE OR FRAGILIZE YOUR NAILS.

We therefore appreciate it for the net result obtained with ease and without risk for the nails, as well as for its excellent hold!

The disadvantages of powder varnish

Powder varnish doesn’t have a lot of downsides, except that you need to have some experience with manicures to achieve the desired result.

ALSO, TO REMOVE IT, THERE IS NO CHOICE BUT USING PURE ACETONE, A MATERIAL CONTROVERSIAL BECAUSE IT DRIES NAILS AND SKIN.

Our advice for applying your powder varnish

First of all, you have to have a good nail care routine and to use professional manicure kit.

To apply your powdered polish, start by applying a primer to the nail. This base needs to be very thick and even to get a clean result.

WHEN THE BASE IS STILL STICKY, PLUN YOUR FINGER IN THE POWDER VARNISH: THE ACRYLIC PARTICLES WILL FIX ON THE NAIL.

Using a small, fine brush, remove the excess and submerge the nail again.

Repeat 1 to 2 times for a more matte result, until you are satisfied with the result (if you want a powdery result, a single coat of powder varnish will suffice), then apply the top coat to set the varnish. The result should be smooth and even. You can apply a 2nd coat of top coat to get the desired result.

Conclusion

Powder varnish is the new trend in varnish:

  • Easy to apply, it allows you to get the result you want (matte or powdery, colored or pastel …) as long as you have a little experience in manicure
  • It dries quickly and can last up to 3 weeks
